Synopsis:

Salvatore Scarabocchio, Salva as his friends call him, is a former soldier of the UN peace corps in Mali. He has seen death and destruction. Injustice that he should have prevented as a peacekeeper. But that did not always work...

And now he got that chance.
 
Armando Ravasio, a man unknown to him, approached him for a ruthless job. A contract killing of a politician from the European Parliament. A politician with evil plans, Ravasio had said.
But Salva does not know either of them. Is the politician really that bad? And who is Ravasio to decide that this man must die?
 
An attack on his mysterious client leads to Salva being identified as the perpetrator.
That is when the problems really start...

Inspiration: 

Attentive readers had already noticed. This first story was finished in June 2025, but publication didn't follow until May 2026. There is a reason for that. I had written this story as a potential spin-off for a thriller series by another author. Ultimately, my version diverged too much from the existing series, and we decided to end the collaboration (as far as writing together was concerned).

So there I was. A finished story, but half of the characters were destined for another storyline that wasn't mine.

By chance, I had used a few South African characters in my story. Those characters, in combination with the protagonists (of Italian descent), led to something I didn't even know myself: the origins of the community of Italians in South Africa. That detail will be further developed in one of the upcoming stories.

The choice of an ex-UN soldier as the protagonist was deliberate. An experienced fighter; that offers possibilities. The rest of the storylines and characters came naturally during the writing, as is usual for me, and not only did they fit together nicely, but they also offer possibilities for even more stories.

A new series is born!
